SAN ANTONIO — UTSA baseball right-handed pitcher Kendall Dove and infielder Josh Arquette announced their intent to transfer on Friday on Instagram and X, respectively. Both began the year as key contributors for the Roadrunners before slipping into reduced roles as the season dragged on.

Dove opened the 2026 campaign as UTSA’s Sunday starter on the mound. He showed promise in the Roadrunners’ wins over South Dakota State and Dallas Baptist but stumbled in his appearances against Coastal Carolina University and New Mexico State University. His next two starts against the University of Texas at Arlington and Florida Atlantic University yielded similarly poor results. Dove began working out of the bullpen as UTSA began American Conference play and made just two starts throughout the remainder of the season, including zero appearances in the American tournament. He finished the season with a 6.70 ERA and 32 earned runs to 27 strikeouts across 43.0 IP.

Heading into the season, many wondered how Arquette would handle making the jump from JUCO to DI baseball. Initially, the transition appeared seamless. Arquette blasted his way through the Roadrunners’ non-conference schedule, highlighted by a monster grand slam against Coastal Carolina in the BRUCE BOLT College Classic. Similarly to Dove, however, Arquette’s performance began to dip in league play. He was eventually phased out of UTSA’s starting lineup with coach Pat Hallmark opting to utilize Diego Diaz at third base, allowing Aidan Eschelman to start at shortstop and Jordan Ballin to slide back to his natural position at second.
