Episode 190: Belonging with Bevo

Follow Alamo Audible:

The Roadrunners gave UT-Austin a proper scare as UTSA traveled heavy to Austin to show Longhorn fans that 210 football is for real. There’s no doubt the Longhorns were the better team, but it’s not hard to dream up a scenario where the Roadrunners could have secured an upset. We recap that game both on and off the field before launching into an extensive Texas Southern preview.

0:00 – Both Adrian and Jared had wonderful experiences in Austin, including some funny encounters with some UT-Austin fans. We’re both excited to make a return trip to DKR in the future.

19:37 – The UTSA coaching staff came in with an excellent game plan to make it a close contest with the Longhorns. 32:11 – A very tough and physical out-of-conference slate for UTSA has the Roadrunners piling up injuries, with 21 players making an appearance on the injury report this morning. We do our best to start listing some of these guys, while also acknowledging what it means for the short and long term prognosis for the program.

38:48 – UTSA’s difficulty in attempting to tackle the Longhorns’ running backs shows the importance of recruiting elite athletes, even if they don’t make a huge impact on Saturdays.

43:19 – The Roadrunners are currently among the most-penalized teams in the country. Can UTSA break out of the funk? Will it prevent them from reaching their goals this season?

59:43 – Texas Southern is on the upswing thanks to an incredible young quarterback out of Corpus Christi. We break down the Tigers’ strengths and weaknesses before giving our predictions for a final score on Saturday.
