  1. I was curious about college women gymnastics so I looked it up. There aren’t a lot of teams but I think UTSA would be the only div 1 team in Texas (not sure if Texas Woman’s College counts as d1 for that sport). It could be a recruiting advantage for UTSA. The Big 12 started sponsoring it, so that’s a conference that they can be in. Also, there are plenty of gymnastics gyms near the campus so I don’t think they would have to worry about facilities if they can’t use the convo. Anyway, its an interesting thought.

  2. The first time I heard this rumor, it was (I believe) UT, A&M, Baylor, Houston, and UTSA all potentially looking at starting programs around the same time. Gymnastics is huge in the SEC so I wouldn’t be surprised if the two Texas SEC schools are looking to draw in some other regional universities so they have some local travel partners for out of conference competition. Forgive my ignorance as I have no idea what the competition configuration for gymnastics looks like, so this could be completely wrong.
