The Roadrunners saw a major recruiting win yesterday as they earned a verbal commitment from four-star (247) safety Kenyan Kelly out of Denison, Texas. Kelly’s commitment marked a major accomplishment for UTSA Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach Jess Loepp, as it is by far Loepp’s biggest recruiting win throughout his time at UTSA. Kelly becomes the highest-rated commit in program history, choosing the Roadrunners over finalists Kansas and Missouri.
In watching Kelly’s film, his closing speed and length really jumps out at me. He may not have elite ball skills, but his athleticism makes him a high-ceiling addition to a safety room that has struggled to stack up talent from the high school level, making the room reliant on transfers to build depth.
I jumped on the Mean Green Show on Youtube to share my thoughts on Kelly’s commitment to UTSA. Thanks to Sanoe for having me on, as always!
