Five recruits UTSA should be the first to offer

Nic Caraway – DE – Bryan HS (2022)

A certain future three star recruit, Caraway has played some inside linebacker but will definitely be an outside linebacker or defensive end at the next level depending on what kind of scheme he’s asked to play in. He is a powerful tackler, often tossing ball carriers around like rag dolls. A tremendous pass rusher, Caraway shows strength well beyond his years on his film.

JC Solitaire – RB – SA Veterans’ Memorial HS (2022)

Twice selected as the first team all-district running back in 12-5A Division I, Solitaire rushed for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns in his junior campaign after averaging over 6 YPC as a sophomore starter. While his slight stature (5’8″, 175) may prevent him from being a feature back, Solitaire’s speed and explosive change of direction make him a big play threat as a change of pace back or slot receiver.

Nathan Jones – TE – Brock (2022)

Jones has great size at 6’5″, 240 lbs. but he’s also a great athlete at tight end. With quick feet and strong hands, Jones is adept at angling off the edge and creating big plays for his offense. His blocking technique is great as he finishes his blocks and has a high motor to keep engaged after contact. While he’s not the most natural of receivers, Jones has the hands and quickness to pick up easy gains through the air.

Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi – QB – Aledo HS (2022)

With Aledo set to play for their 10th state title this Friday, we’ll have a chance to see how Fowler-Nicolosi performs under the brightest of lights. The junior pocket passer has had an interesting season. He moved to Aledo mid-season after starting for his previous school in San Diego as a sophomore. Due to transfer paperwork delays, Fowler-Nicolosi didn’t earn starting snaps until Aledo’s starting quarterback had to miss a game due to Covid-19 in October. Fowler-Nicolosi played too well to lose that starting spot and he now has Aledo in the state championship for the fourth straight year. He has a cannon of an arm and is patient in letting plays develop to get his receivers open. Fowler-Nicolosi hasn’t seen a whole lot of pocket pressure this season so I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs against Crosby’s excellent defensive line on Friday.

Braeden Flowers – DE – Churchill HS (2023)

The lone incoming-junior on this list, Flowers is a class of 2023 prospect who deserves an early offer. Flowers comes from one of the top football families in San Antonio. His father Erik played in the NFL, as well as his brother Dimitri (Oklahoma) and cousin Tre (Oklahoma State).  Flowers already has a well-developed build and is powerful at the line of scrimmage. He shows good play-reading abilities and can get off of blocks. His ceiling is definitely that of a Power 5 defensive end.
